{ moving up }

it's official...I'm moving up in the world.

After 3+ years of sleeping in a twin I couldn't handle it anymore and thanks to my extremely talented friend Sarah, I upgraded to a full.

Sarah only lives a few long blocks from me but everyone I called wanted to charge me $100+ just to move the bed that far.

Since being thrifty is sexy these days, I decided we would just move it ourselves, NYC style.

I grabbed a few friends & a skateboard and off we went...

It really wasn't bad.

Two of us carried the mattress on our heads and the box frame went on the skateboard.

...the things we do to move up in the world!

Funny thing is a homeless man looked at me carrying the mattress on my head and started laughing at me.

I should have taken pictures but I was sick and forgot.

I'm sure there will be a next time.

People are always moving things here.

When I was living on the east side, we bought a storage bench off craigslist not too far from our place and had to carry it home. Someone stopped us on the street and asked us if it was a casket for a child. Seriously?!?

Only in NYC...

{ brooklyn flea }

My list of things to do in the city keeps getting longer and longer. When you live somewhere, sometimes Saturdays are spent doing laundry & cleaning instead of out & about but I'm trying to change that. It's time to explore more again. There's SO SO much to do here! I end up on road trips so much, I've decided I'm going to stay IN the city more and start taking advantage of everything that's here.

First on the list, the Brooklyn Flea Market.

It's great for jewelry, vintage finds, music and GREAT tamales! We walked by Grimaldi's and were going to wait in the never ending line but I'm glad we didn't. They had tons of food at the market so lunch was homemade tamales and pupusas...my first time trying one...so delicious! I can get pizza any day...

Although chilly, the sky was SO SO blue and it was nice to be out on Valentines Day with some of my favorite girls...

...it was definitely another I love NYC day!

{ girls night }

The girls and I had a much needed girls night the other night.

Instead of the typical dinner & a chick flick, we chose the Nuggets vs. the Nets at the Izod Center.

I don't know why we didn't think of this before but...
Girls nights should be planned around sporting events, that's where all the guys are anyways!

We had a bit of drama in the transportation department. Not one taxi driver knew how to get the Izod center...seriously? But after a few failed attempts we made it to our seats.

I love watching basketball and hadn't been to a Nuggets game since I was little.

Sadly, the Nuggets lost but this guy kept us entertained...

and Jen made sure to bring her US Weekly for back-up entertainment...

I really did watch the game though...

I'll give a prize to the first guy that can top this...are you up for the challenge?

{ some kids get candy }

Some kids get candy for Valentines day.
My mom sends me self help books.

Last year was Oprah's recommended, The Gift of Fear... (sorry mom, still haven't read it yet)

and this year I got On My Own Two Feet (a modern girls guide to personal finance)
after she sent an e-mail telling me that I should buy it, then another one telling me not to buy it
because it was on its way to me for Valentines Day.

Thanks mom.

I did start reading it and although most of it is common sense, it's good stuff to know.
 Being financially stable is sexy, right?

I think so.
