there are cool things about getting older.

and yes, I mean older, not old.

you're smarter and wiser and stronger

you've had cool experiences

you don't care about silly things as much as you used to

and you realize it's okay not to have your dream job

because you have it good where you're at

and sometimes the best things
are the things that are right in front of you

the ones you never knew you wanted

in places you would never guess

they're not always fancy or shiny

but they're good and that means more than anything

I'm not usually one to talk about work stuff

but it was announced that I made partner today
and it made me smile

I never ever pictured myself on the 21st floor
of a high-rise in times square,

working in finance, but here I am, and it's good

I love who I work with and I feel at home in this concrete jungle

sure, I could think of other things I could be doing sometimes

but I'm happy where I'm at and lucky to be there

and better yet,

I still have time to be crafty and take cool pictures,
and plan fun parties and travel to faraway places,

and stay up way too late and be creative and still be me.

I'm not quite sure how I got so lucky

but I'm ever so grateful

and always will be.

{ tree trimming }

I loved my hand painted christmas tree last year

but this year I wanted the real thing.

Real pine. Real ornaments. Lights...Bulbs...the works.

So many things can be difficult in NYC but Christmas trees...

there's not one, two but three lots within 2 blocks of my apartment. EASY.
Well, easy once we got it up our five flights of stairs.

Bondy should start charging for his tree trimming services...

A great perk about being single? Friends who call you up and take you on dates to concerts at your favorite venue in the city...even better, said friend doesn't realize until you get there that he has fourth row orchestra seats.  smooth.  GUSTER put on an amazing show.  They were one of the tightest bands I've seen in a long time.  The highlights:  the floating ukulele, bongo drums, special guests from a girls school in Philly complete with school uniforms and the final song all acoustic with the house lights ON.

sidenote:  After the show we ended up at the new Apple store on Broadway to try and fix my muffled iphone.  We had three Apple geniuses helping us but it only took one smart one to fix the problem. Solution: if the sound is muffled on your iPhone but the speaker still works and your headphones still work it's because the guy at the Apple store sold you the films for the iTouch instead of the iPhone.  

It took a genius to figure that out.
